Porto-Vecchio and its surrounding countryside simply ooze with charm. Its nearby flawless sandy beaches, lush mountainous interior and quaint Old Town with cobbled streets are a feast for the eyes.
As with Corsica as a whole, many areas around Porto-Vecchio are largely undeveloped, enabling the visitor to enjoy exquisite scenery, be it the captivating coastline or dramatic forested mountainous interior, and to experience a taste of authentic Corsican life.

Town Images
Photographs of Porto-Vecchio's historic walled Old Town and its more modern marina.
The compact, elegant Old Town, established in 1539 by the Genoese, sits high above the marina. There are excellent panoramic views across the sea, valley and mountains from the Porte Genoise gate in the ancient citadel walls.

Beach Images
Porto-Vecchio sits on the most attractive coastline in Corsica, if not in the whole of the Mediterranean.
There are numerous beaches with unbelievably white sand and tranquil aquamarine sea backed by stunning mountains. The most famous beach is Palombaggia, with powder-soft sand set between red granite rocks and backed by umbrella pines.

Day Trip Images
A short drive inland from Porto-Vecchio takes you to the mountainous Alta Rocca,
with stunning vistas back down over the Gulf of Port-Vecchio.
Visitors will find a remote region of mountain villages, forests, rivers and lakes.
To the south, the ancient cliff top town of Bonifacio forms one of the iconic images of Corsica.
